The symphony of sound orchestrated
by the turbulent wind
Reaches my ears before my eyes
see the water.
An endless stream of rumbling waves
crashes onto the shore.
Excitedly I step into the swirling
mass of chaos,
The waves wrestle around me
pulling and pushing me to and fro.
Over and over the current plays
tug-of-war around me
A path of endless rolling waves crests high with a mound of bubbles,
Swirling foams hovers on the water- waiting
Anticipating their next ride of madness.
As I glance at the horizon the wind whispers through my hair
Storm clouds of blue and gray topped with tufts of white fluff
rise above the endless watery horizon.
Suddenly a wave slams into me determined to pull me under,
I sputter through the beads of salty water hitting my lips.
The wave moves on.
I boldly plant my feet before the next torrent of water starts its attack.
Again, I brace myself against the rush.
Time stands still in these exhilarating moments.
Finally lifting my face to the warm rays of light
I stop resisting the push to shore.
I am at peace as I meander through the rushing tide,
Suddenly the creation story works its way into my pondering mind:
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
Gen. 1: 1-2
I breathe deeply to feel God’s presence hovering around me.
The Creator’s handiwork is displayed all around,
The symphony continues…
